What we do

Discover how we bring stories to life

Amanda Stephenson - Author

Amanda & Frank

I will come into your setting in role as the slightly eccentric sausage dog owner to read to your class or small group. The story is all about my sausage dog called Frank. Who doesn’t smile when they see a sausage dog? I have tried and tested this theory with my dog, Frank, on our many walks and I can honestly say that he causes a bit of a stir wherever we go!

Children will adore this loveable character who is a bit nerdy and makes learning ‘Cool’. Teachers will be able to use this book in a cross curricular way; there are links to history, geography, emotional well-being, a moral message, appreciation for what we have, healthy eating, castles, dinosaurs, space and friendships just to name just a few. We believe that this book, satisfies the criteria that many teachers will be grateful for and could easily be used in a Pie Corbett method of teaching story structure.

Book Introduction

Step 1:
Introduction

I shall show the children my book and explain briefly why I have written it. The children will be tempted with the possibility of the real Frank being able to visit them if they have listened and joined in.

I shall show the children two of Frank’s dickie bows and ask them to vote for one which they would like to see him wear.

Story Book Introduction

Step 2:
Let’s get started

I shall teach some makaton signs to help the pupils to join in with some of the story.
